MINISTRY OF EDUCATION ISSUES GUIDELINES FOR IDENTIFICATION, ADMISSION AND CONTINUED EDUCATION OF MIGRANT CHILDREN

The Ministry of Education had issued guidelines for identification, admission and continued education of migrant children, in order to mitigate the impact of challenges thrown by the COVID-19 pandemic for out of school children. States and UTs to carry out proper identification of OoSC for 6 to 18 years age group through a comprehensive door to door survey and prepare action plan for their enrolment.

CENTRE LAUNCHES ‘SINGLE WINDOW CLEARANCE SYSTEM' FOR SMOOTH OPERATIONALISATION OF COAL MINES

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launches ‘Single Window Clearance System'. It will be an online platform to obtain clearances for smooth operationalization of coal mines. India has set a target to produce 700 million tonnes of coal in FY 2021. Currently, India produces 72 % of its electricity from coal.

REQUESTS TO DEFER THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CORPORATE AVERAGE FUEL EFFICIENCY (CAFE-2) REGULATIONS AND BS-VI STAGE

The auto industry has requested the government to defer the implementation of Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE-2) regulations and BS-VI stage II norms to April 2024.

As per BS-VI emission norms, petrol vehicles will have to effect a 25% reduction in their NOx, or nitrogen oxide emissions.

INDIAN RAILWAYS ENHANCES SPEED TO 130 KMPH ON GOLDEN QUADRILATERAL, GOLDEN DIAGONAL SECTIONS

Indian Railway enhanced the maximum speed to 130 kmph for 1,280 km length out of 1,612 Km in Golden Quadrilateral - Golden Diagonal (GQ-GD) route.

Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav is the national innovative initiative of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is operational in many villages in the jurisdiction of Agriculture University Jodhpur. The objective of this scheme is to provide farmers with required information, knowledge and advisories on regular basis by adopting villages.

PM TO ADDRESS VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF 2ND NATIONAL YOUTH PARLIAMENT FESTIVAL ON 12 JANUARY

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to address the valedictory function of the second National Youth Parliament Festival on 12th January 2021. The objective of the National Youth Parliament Festival is to hear the voice of youth between 18 and less than 25 years of age, who will join various careers in the coming years, including public services.

KERALA TO OPEN AN ACADEMY FOR THE TRAINING OF ‘KALARIPPAYATTU’

The state government of Kerala is opening an academy of 3,500 sq ft for the training of ‘Kalaripayattu’ in Thiruvananthapuram. The academy will be established in Kerala Tourism’s Vellar Crafts Village en route to Kovalam.

Kalaripayattu is a Martial art which originated as a style in Kerala during 3nd century BC to the 2nd century AD.

INDIA TO BEGIN THE WORLD'S LARGEST VACCINATION DRIVE ON JANUARY 16

India’s nation-wide vaccination drive will begin on the 16th January, 2021. 700-750 mn would have to be vaccinated, which would require around 1.5 bn doses if each needs 2 shots. Each sealed box could contain 10-20 vials.

WORLD HINDI DAY WAS OBSERVED ON 10TH JANUARY

World Hindi Day was observed on 10th January 2021. Its objective is to promote the use of Hindi language abroad. In 2006, the First World Hindi Conference was held in Nagpur with the aim to promote the language worldwide and since then, every year 10th January is observed as the World Hindi Day.
