Approval given by IRDAI for the launch corona Kavach Health Insurance Policies

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has authorised 30 general and health insurance companies to launch ‘‘Corona Kavach’Kavach’ health insurance policies for a short-term amid the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country. Under the policies, the insurers will cover medical expenses that arise due to the coronavirus infection. Under the policy, the sum of the insured amount will be in the range of Rs50000 to Rs.5 Lakh and can be used by individuals between the age group 18 to 65 years.

ATL App Development Module launched by Atal Innovation Mission for school children

The flagship initiative of NITI Aayog, the Atal Innovation Mission has launched the ‘ATL (Atal Tinkering Labs) App Development Module’ for children studying in school throughout the country. The ATL App is an online course which is being provided free of cost. Under the initiative, students will learn to build innovative mobile apps in different languages through six project-based learning modules and sessions that will involve online mentoring.

Hockey India Executive Board names Gyanendro Ningombam as Officiating President of Hockey India

Gyanendro Ningombam of Manipur has been named as the Officiating President of Hockey India by the Hockey India Executive Board on 10 July 2020 following an Emergent Executive Board meeting. The position was earlier held by Mohd Mushtaque Ahmad who handed his resignation letter to Hockey India on 7 July 2020 due to his personal and family reasons.

Mangalyaan images the closest and biggest moon of Mars

The Mars Colour Camera (MCC) mounted on the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) also known as Mangalyaan, has imaged the biggest and closest moon of Mars, known as Phobos on 1 July 2020. The image was taken by MCC when Mangalyaan was at a distance of around 7200 km from Mars and around 4200 km far from Phobos. The largest moon of Mars, Phobos is believed to be formed out of carbonaceous chondrites.

Guinness World Record set by India's 2018 Tiger census for being the largest camera trap wildlife survey

A Guinness World Record has been set by the fourth cycle of the All India Tiger Estimation 2018 as it was the world’s largest camera trap wildlife survey. The survey involved the placement of Camera traps in 26,838 locations in 141 sites under which an effective area of 1 lakh 21 thousand 337 square kilometres was surveyed.

The number of tigers in India is estimated to be 2967 tigers according to the latest census. Currently, India has 75 percent of the tiger population across the globe.

Restricted Emergency Use of Itolizumab gets DCGI approval

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the Restricted Emergency Use of Itolizumab (rDNA origin), a monoclonal antibody that has been already granted authorisation for severe chronic plaque psoriasis on the basis of clinical trials. The drug has been manufactured and marketed by M/s Biocon since 2013, for the treatment of patients that have moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis as Alzumab.
