INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HUMAN SPACE FLIGHT CELEBRATED ON APRIL 12

On April 12, the International Day of Human Space Flight is celebrated annually to mark the anniversary of the 1st human space flight by Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961.

`AAHAAR KRANTI’ WAS LAUNCHED

Recently, a new mission called `Aahaar Kranti’ was launched by the Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan. Vijnana Bharati (Vibha) and Global Indian Scientists’ and Technocrats’ Forum (GIST) have come together to launch the mission with the motto of ‘Good Diet-Good Cognition’.

The `Aahaar Kranti’ movement is intended to address the issue of hunger and diseases in abundance’. The mission is meant to spread the message of the need for a nutritionally balanced diet and to comprehend the significance of all local fruits and vegetables.

INDIAN FILM PRODUCER CONFERRED WITH THE 2ND HIGHEST FRENCH CIVILIAN HONOUR

Pro Indian film producer Guneet Monga has been conferred with the 2nd highest French civilian honour called “Honour of the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans I’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres)”. She was felicitated in New Delhi on April 13, 2021, by the Ambassador of France in India, by the French authorities.

PRESIDENT APPOINTS CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER (CEC)

Recently, the President appointed Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). He assumed the charge with effect from April 13, 2021. He will replace incumbent CEC Sunil Arora, who retired on April 12, 2021.

CENTRE INAUGURATES E-SANTA

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal virtually inaugurated e-SANTA, an electronic marketplace providing a platform to connect aqua farmers and buyers.

The term e-SANTA was coined for the web portal, meaning Electronic Solution for Augmenting NaCSA farmers' Trade-in Aquaculture.

EXERCISE SHANTIR OGROSHENA CONCLUDED

Multinational military exercise Shantir Ogroshena, which went for 10 days in Bangladesh, concluded on 12th April 2021. It was held at Bangabandhu Senanibas (BBS), Bangladesh. ‘Shantir Ogroshena’ 2021 means “Front Runner of the Peace”.

102 YEARS OF JALLIANWALA BAGH MASSACRE

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in pre-Independence India on 13 April 1919, when the acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered British troops to open fire on unarmed Indian civilians.
