Siachen Day observed on 13 April 2020

The Indian Army commemorated the 36th Siachen Day on 13 April 2020 to pay respect to the courage of Indian Army during ‘Operation Meghdoot’ and to honour the brave soldiers that are protecting the borders of the country under the cold and harsh conditions. The Operation Meghdoot was launched on 13 April 1984 to gain control of the Siachen Glacier and Bilafond La pass and other passes lying on the Saltoro Ridgeline under Lieutenant General Prem Nath Hoon.

CollabCAD by NITI Aayog, NIC and AIM

The National Institution for Transforming India(NITI) Aayog, the Atal Innovation Mission(AIM) and the National Informatics Centre(NIC) have collaborated to launch the CollabCAD which is a collaborative network of the computer-enabled software system that provides 2D drafting and detailing and 3D designs.

AIIMS Rishikesh sets up India’s First Remote Health Monitoring System

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) located in Rishikesh in collaboration with the Navratna Company in the Defense sector, Bharat Electronics Limited(BHEL) has developed India’s first remote Health Monitoring System. With the use of the remote monitoring system the body temperature and temperature can be monitored from a distance thus making it less necessary for the doctor to go near the patient and prevent the contraction of diseases by the doctors.

Four Years of E-NAM complete

The e-NAM, which is the online trading platform for the National Agriculture Market portal, has completed four years of its implementation on 14 April 2020. The objective of the website is to realize the vision of the ‘One Nation, One Market’ for Agricultural produce. The e-NAM now consists of 585 mandis and will be expanded to cover 415 new mandis that will take the total to 1000.

World Chagas Disease Day observed for the first time

The World Chagas Disease Day is observed for the first time across the globe on 14 April 2020. The objective of the day is to increase awareness about the visibility and public awareness of people with Chagas Disease and the means required to prevent, control or eliminate the disease.

14 April was selected as on this date in 1909, the first patient of a Brazilian descent Berenice Soares de Moura, was diagnosed with the disease by Dr Carlos Ribeiro Justiniano Chagas. Vectorial transmission of the disease is a possibility (T. cruzi parasites are mainly transmitted by contact with faeces/urine of infected blood-sucking triatomine bugs.)

COVIDgyaan website launched by TIFR

A science-based web-portal ‘COVIDgyan’ has been launched by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The objective of the website is to bring the facts and scientific information about COVID-19 pandemic into the public domain in a multi-lingual, multi-institutional and scientific format.

Control Rooms set up to address wage related grievances

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has established twenty control rooms which function under the Office of Chief Labour Commissioner(CLC) © covering the whole nation to address issues and challenges that are arising due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The centers have been set up in Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Asansol, Ajmer, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Delhi, Dehradun, Dhanbad, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, Jabalpur, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, and Raipur.
