EATSMART CITIES CHALLENGE AND TRANSPORT 4 ALL CHALLENGE LAUNCHED

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the EatSmart Cities Challenge and Transport 4 All Challenge.

The launch event of EatSmart Cities Challenge today was organized in association with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the aegis of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR STREET CHILDREN OBSERVED

International Day for Street Children was observed on April 12th.

GLOBAL FOOD POLICY REPORT PUBLISHED

The  International Food Policy Research Institute publishes the Global Food Policy Report. This year the establishment has delivered the report dependent on the subject "Changing Food Systems After COVID-19".

A few families moved from costly nutritious food varieties, for example, products of the soil towards less expensive staple food sources because of the pandemic.

POONAM GUPTA APPOINTED NEW DIRECTOR-GENERAL “NATIONAL COUNCIL OF APPLIED ECONOMIC RESEARCH (NCAER)”

World Bank economist Poonam Gupta has been appointed as the new Director-General of the policy think tank “National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER)”. She is the 1st woman director general of NCAER. She would succeed Shekhar Shah who was appointed in 2011 and will complete his second 5-year term in early May 2021.

MANAS MOBILE APP LAUNCHED

Recently, the government of India launched a mobile app, MANAS (Mental Health and Normalcy Augmentation System) to promote mental wellbeing across age groups.

It is developed by National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) Bengaluru, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DAC) Bengaluru.

ONLINE GRIEVANCE MANAGEMENT PORTAL: NCSC LAUNCHED

The Government launched the “Online Grievance Management Portal of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC)” on the occasion of the 130th birth anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar.

PM GREETS ON POYLA BOISHAKH

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has greeted Bengalis in India and across the world on Poyla Boishakh. Poila Boishakh, also known as Bangla Noboborsho, is the first day of the Bengali calendar and celebrated as new year’s day. This festival is celebrated on 14 April in Bangladesh and 15 April in the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, and Assam (Barak Valley) by Bengalis regardless of religious faith.
