International Day of Rural Women

15th October of every year is observed as the” International Day of Rural Women”. This day recognizes the crucial role of women and girls in ensuring the sustainability of rural households and communities, thus improving rural livelihoods and their overall wellbeing.

Theme: Rural Women and Girls Building Climate Resilience

"Sangam Youth Festival"

This festival is being organised from 11th October to 15th October at Bhadarwah, Jammu. The festival witnessed performances from more than 1500 students from 32 different schools and colleges bringing out the beauty and tradition of India. The Indian Army in collaboration with Jammu University is organising the 5-day festival for youths.

Sewa Service trains

The Indian Railway launched a total of 10 ’ Sewa Service  Trains’ today, Minister of Railway Piyush Goyal along with health minister Harsh Vardhan and oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated Delhi-Shamli daily passenger train. The Sewa Service trains are introduced to ensure congestion-free roads and faster ease of movement. These trains will also help divert short distance traffic from roads to the railways.

 

Nobel Prize for Economic Science 2019

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Economic Science officially known as  the ‘Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences’ to Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer “for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.”

World Students Day: 15 October

Every year, former president APJ Abdul kalam’s birthday is celebrated as World Students' Day. In 2010, the United Nations had declared October 15 as World Students' Day.
