Colorimeter developed by IIT Kanpur for monitoring Water Quality

Start-ups incubated by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur have developed a smart device for monitoring and analysing the quality of water using an easy to use colorimetric test-strip. The name of the device is ‘PADMAVATI’ and has been developed by the Start-ups, i.e. Earthface Analytics Pvt. Ltd. & Kritsnam Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The device that uses the colorimetric test strip and is based on smart-phone technology displays several vital quality parameters of water under two minutes.

NSTI, Extension Centre e-inaugurated in Imphal

A National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Extension Centre was e-inaugurated by the Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, on 15 July 2020 via video conferencing. The centre is located in Imphal at the Government ITI campus.

Urgent Capital Acquisition power for Cases upto Rs 300 crore given to Armed Forces

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), has entrusted the powers for advancing the Capital Acquisition Cases with an upper limit of Rs.300 crore on an urgent basis to the Indian Armed Forces. The delegation of powers will help the armed forces to meet their rising operational requirements. The special DCA meeting was held in view of the current security situation that is present along the Northern Borders.

HRD Minister launches most affordable COVID-19 test kit developed by IIT Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has produced the most affordable COVID-19 test Kit called ‘Corosure’. The test kit was launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Minister of State for HRD Sanjay Dhotre. The ‘Corosure’ test kit has been manufactured by New Tech Medical Devices and will be made accessible to all the diagnostic centres and hospitals.

NBFC Bonds worth Rs 14,667 crore to be purchased by PSBs under PCGS

The Partial Credit Guarantee Scheme (PCGS) has been revamped by the Finance Ministry under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Package to aid the Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) in their liability side. The Ministry of Finance has approved the purchase of Commercial Papers or Bonds that are issued by 67 NBFCs and amount to Rs.14 thousand 6 hundred 67 crores.

Armed Forces Personnel with less than 10 years of qualifying service eligible for Invalid Pension

The Central Government has allowed the personnel from the Armed Forces having qualifying service of less than 10 years to avail Invalid Pension. Armed Forces Personnel who are invalided out of service due to disability which is categorised as Neither Attributable to Nor Aggravated (NANA) by Military Service will be granted the Invalid Pension. The Invalid Pension will be available to those Personnel of Armed Forces who were serving on or after 4 January 2019.

First fully indigenously developed Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine approved by DCGI

The first fully indigenously developed Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine has received the approval of the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). The vaccination is done to immunize infants actively against invasive diseases and pneumonia that are caused by “Streptococcus pneumonia”. The Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine is administered in an intramuscular manner. The development of the vaccine has taken place in the Serum Institute of India, Pune.

India Records all time high Export of Coir and Coir Products

An all-time high export of coir and coir products for the year 2019-20, worth Rs. 2757.90 crore was registered by India. The new exports figures are Rs.30 crore higher than in 2018-19, which was Rs. 2728.04 crore. India exported coir and coir products weighing 9,88,996 MT during 2019-20 in comparison to 964046 MT exported in 2018-2109.

Mapping of land bank available for industry under process by Govt

The central government is working on a project to create a genuine single window clearance mechanism and to map the complete land bank that is available for the development of industry. The government is also exploring steps and measures for the promotion of manufacturing of electronic products.
