EXPLAINED: WORLD FOOD DAY

World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year around the world on 16 October. On this very day, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945 was founded.

NATIONAL CAPITAL’S AQI SLIPS TO ‘VERY POOR’ CATEGORY

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the air quality of Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida, all part of the National Capital Region (NCR), worsened to “very poor” category.

EXPLAINED: BODOLAND TERRITORIAL COUNCIL

Bodoland Territorial Council was constituted in the year 2003 under the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India after the signing of Memorandum of Settlement between the Government of India, the Government of Assam and Bodo Liberation Tigers. It aims to fulfil economic, educational and linguistic aspiration and the preservation of land-rights, socio-cultural and ethnic identity of the Bodos; and to speed up the infrastructure in the area.

EXPLAINED: RAISING DAY OF NSG

National Security Guard is another unit under the Home Ministry, was formed as a result of the assassination of the former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. It was set up in 1984 as a unit that would deal with internal security problems. The most important role is to fight terror-related activities and help the state police forces.

Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) was established in 1960, it was opened to the public in 1979 and became the first zoo in India to join the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums in 2009. It is only conservation breeding centre of Indian Pangolins in the world.
