PARLIAMENT PASSES ‘INSTITUTE OF TEACHING AND RESEARCH IN AYURVEDA BILL, 2020’

Parliament has passed Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda Bill, 2020. The bill seeks to establish an Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda and declare it an Institute of National importance.

EXPLAINED : INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY: 15 SEPTEMBER

15 September is the International Day of Democracy. It was to promote and uphold the principles of democracy across the world. The United Nations has declared on its official website that the theme of year 2020 is "unprecedented COVID-19 crisis has resulted in major social, political and legal challenges globally."

Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin is an extensive deltaic plain formed by two large east coast rivers, Krishna and Godavari in the state of Andhra Pradesh and the adjoining areas of Bay of Bengal in which these rivers discharge their water.

RAJESH KHULLAR APPOINTED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AT WORLD BANK

The Appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the appointment of Haryana IAS officer Rajesh Khullar as executive director, World Bank headquarters, in Washington DC. Rajesh Khullar as executive director will represent India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka in the World Bank. His tenure will be for three years from the date of assumption of charge or till he retires in August 2023.
