SCTIMST develops COVID19 diagnostic test kit Chitra GeneLAMP-N

The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) has developed Chitra Gene LAMP-N, which is a diagnostic test kit for COVID19 and detection of N Gene of SARS-CoV-2 and uses the reverse transcriptase loop-mediated amplification of viral nucleic acid (RT-LAMP).

OBICUS survey launched by RBI

The quarterly released Order books, Inventories and Capacity Utilisation Survey (OBICUS) of the manufacturing sector was launched by the Reserve bank of India(RBI) on 16 April 2020. The OBICUS survey provides essential information for the formulation of monetary policy. This is the 49th survey and for the January-March 2020 reference period.

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate amends EIA Notification

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has amended the Environment Impact Assessment(EIA) Notification 2006 to increase the availability and production of several drugs. The ministry has categorized all projects and activities again concerning bulk drugs under the amendment from the existing category ‘A’ to ‘B2’ category.

World Hemophilia Day

The World Hemophilia Day is observed on 17 April 2020 by the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) and the bleeding disorders community. The objective of the day is to spread awareness about the various bleeding disorders. The theme of World Hemophilia Day 2020 is ‘Get+involved virtually and stay safe’, 17 April is selected to mark Frank Schnabel’s birthday.

National video Conference on evolving Kharif Crops

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare aims to achieve the kharif target and double the farmer’s income in mission mode. The National Video conference on Kharif Crops was chaired by Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar.

India buying 6,50,000 COVID-19 testing from China

China has sent a total of 650,000 kits from Guangzhou airport to India on 16 April 2020. The test kits include RNA Extraction Kits and Rapid Antibody Tests. The rapid testing kits will be used in COVID19 hotspots and regions with high infection rates. India has bought 550,000 Rapid Antibody testing kits and 100,000 RNA extraction kits from China.

Mascot for Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games

The International Paralympic Committee revealed the Mascot for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games. The mascot is a ‘Divine Bird’ named Feifei, which is considered a messenger of joy and cultural distinction. The games will be held from 9 October to 15 October in 2022.

Pre-NIT meeting on Mine development by CIL

The Government-owned Coal India Limited(CIL) will hold a meeting with stakeholders via video conference on 18 April 2020 to discuss model bid documents for the development and operation of underground mines. To increase its dry-fuel output, Coal India Ltd has decided to take coal through mine operators.

Vishwanathanm Anand as WWF ambassador

Vishwanathan Anand has been named the new ambassador of World Wide Fund(WWF)of India for the environmental education programme.
