Goa to ban plastics and PET bottles from 2020

Since Plastic pollution has become a major threat to the environment, the Goa government has decided to impose a complete ban on the use of plastics below 50 microns. The Goa government has also decided to form village-level, taluk-level committees involving government officials to monitor the implementation of the ban.

Dhaka Global Dialogue

The first edition of Dhaka Global Dialogue was a three-day-long programme (11-13 November 2019) which was held in Bangladesh. The Dhaka Global Dialogue programme was jointly organised by New Delhi based Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS).

The first-ever International Buyer-Seller Meet is held in Arunachal Pradesh. It is organised by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Bribery Risk Index, 2019

The TRACE Bribery Risk Matrix (TRACE Matrix) measures business bribery risk in 200 countries, territories, and autonomous and semi-autonomous regions. According to this year’s data, Somalia, South Sudan, North Korea, Yemen and Venezuela presented the highest risk of bribe demands. New Zealand, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland presented the lowest bribery risk.

Aadi Mahotsav or Tribal Festival organised in Delhi

The Aadi Mahotsav will be organised between 16th to 30th November 2019 at Delhi-Haat, INA. The festival will showcase tribal handicrafts, art, paintings, textiles, jewellery, etc. through 200 stalls and will be offered for sale. The theme of the Aadi Mahotsav festival is “a celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Crafts, Culture and Commerce”.

National Mission “Nishtha” Launched in J & K

National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) launched in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. NISHTHA is a National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement. The aim of this programme is to motivate and equip teachers to encourage thinking in students.

Regional conference on 'Replication of Good Governance Practices' in J&K and Ladakh concludes

It was resolved to develop the two regions as a model of administrative excellence, with the two-day conference on the subject of adopting good governance practices in the Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh concluding from 15-16 November 2019. The conference theme is - ‘Replication of Good Governance Practices in Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh’.

National Press Day

Press Council of India organized an event in the capital Delhi on National Press Day. Every year 16 November is celebrated as National Press Day this is the establishment day of the Press Council of India. National Press day was formed on 16 November 1966.

Water quality report for state capitals and New Delhi

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan has released Water quality report. According to this report is in line with the Water Life Mission which was launched by 2024 to provide clean and safe drinking water to all. According to the ranking, the best drinking water facility in the country is in Mumbai. The water being supplied by the Delhi Jal Board is not drinkable.

Shafqat Mehmood elected as the President of UNESCO’s Education Commission

Shafqat Mehmood, Minister for Education and Professional Training has been consentaneous elected as President of UNESCO’s prestigious Education Commission in Paris. According to the Minister the President of UNESCO's Education Commission, he would work closely with all delegations in a constructive manner in pursuance of UNESCO's objectives.
