NATIONAL DENGUE DAY OBSERVED

National Dengue Day is observed in India, every year on 16th May. It  was recommended  of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus (Genus Flavivirus), transmitted by several species of mosquito within the genus Aedes, principally Aedes aegypti.

WORLD AIDS VACCINE DAY: 18 MAY

World AIDS Vaccine Day is observed annually on May 18. 

AIDS is a pandemic disease caused by the infection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which damages the human immune system.

HARYANA DECLARES BLACK FUNGUS A NOTIFIED DISEASE

Black Fungus has been categorised as a notified disease in Haryana. Black Fungus is a serious but rare fungal infection caused by a group of molds called mucormycetes, which are present naturally in the environment.

Notified Disease is any disease that is required by law to be reported to government authorities.

INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY: 18 MAY

International Museum Day is celebrated on 18 May. Its objective is to raise awareness about the fact that “Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples”.

Theme of International Museum Day 2021: “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”.

WEST BENGAL GOVERNMENT TO SET UP A LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

Recently, the West Bengal government has decided to set up a Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad).

As per Article 169 of the Indian Constitution, the Parliament can abolish a Legislative Council (where it already exists) or create it (where it does not exist) by a simple majority, that is, a majority of the members of each House present and voting, if the legislative assembly of the concerned state, by a special majority, passes a resolution to that effect.

IDRBT BUILDING NATIONAL DIGITAL FINANCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE (NADI)

Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), an arm of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), is building National Digital Financial Infrastructure (NADI). It is a next-generation Digital Financial Infrastructure. National Digital Financial Infrastructure (NADI) would provide a roadmap and framework for future digital financial services growth in the country.

INNOVATION CHALLENGE FOR CREATING INDIAN LANGUAGE LEARNING APP

MyGov has launched an Innovation Challenge for creating an Indian Language Learning App. It has launched the Innovation Challenge to create an app that will enable individuals to learn simple sentences of any Indian language and acquire working knowledge of a language.

It is open to Indian individuals, startups and companies. The top 3 will receive funding of 20 lakh rupees, 10 lakh rupees and 5 lakh rupees to make the apps better.
