Gotbaya Rajapaksa to be sworn in as new President of Sri Lanka

Gotabaya Rajapaksa won the Sri Lankan presidential election. Sri Lanka's Election Commission released the final result. As per the result, Rajapaksa secured victory with 52.25% of the vote. Rajapaksa is to take oath as President of Sri Lanka on 18 November in a ceremony in the central town of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.

Dr Ravi Ranjan has sworn in as 13th Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court

Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan took oath as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court on 17th Nov 2019. Governor Draupadi Murmi administered him the oath of office in a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan. He has been appointed as the 13th Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

National Epilepsy Day

In India, November 17 is observed every year as National Epilepsy Day to create awareness about epilepsy which is celebrated by the Epilepsy Foundation. Epilepsy is a chronic non-communicable disorder of the brain characterized by recurrent ‘seizures’ or ‘fits’.

Darjeeling Green and White Tea gets a Geographical Indication(GI) Tag

Green and white tea of the hills have been registered as GI products in the country. These two varieties of Darjeeling tea have been registered under Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act 1999, with effect from October 2019.
