E-cigarettes banned, Nirmala Sitharaman announces in Cabinet Briefing

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that government has decided to put a complete ban on e-cigarettes. It means production, sale, manufacturing, and advertising of e-cigarettes will be banned.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that 300 million US citizens are using e-cigarettes and a 78 percent increase in the use of e-cigarettes has been found among high school students in the US.

Moti Bagh: Documentary on Indian farmer’s life nominated for Oscars

Moti Bagh, a documentary based on a Uttarakhand farmer’s life has been nominated for the Oscars. The documentary film, directed by Nirmal Chander is based on the life of a farmer called Vidyadutt, who belongs to a remote village in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal region.

At 17.5 Million, overseas Indians are largest diaspora in the world: UN Report

 

The Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs released the International Migrant Stock 2019. United Nations latest report revealed that India is the leading country of origin of international migrants in 2019 with a 17.5 million-strong diaspora. The report said that the number of migrants globally reached an estimated 272 million.

Airtel Payments Bank launches Bharosa savings account

Airtel Payments Bank has launched Bharosa savings account which enables customers to withdraw cash check their balance or access a mini statement of their account at over 6,50,000 Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AePS) enabled outlets across India.

India has successfully test-fired air-to-air missile Astra from Sukhoi-30 MKI. The indigenously developed missile was tested off the coast of Odisha on September 17, 2019.
