Firsts of Census 2021

The 2021 Census will be conducted in three phases, the first phase of which will begin in April this year. The house enumeration will be held from April to September. For the first time, this year's census will collect data of transgender headed houses. It also considers the main cereal that are consumed in the household.

Report to change the legal framework that will help prevent sexual harassment

The Group of Ministers was constituted first in October 2018 in the aftermath of the #MeToo movement after many women shared their ordeal on social media. It was reconstituted in July 2019 under Mr. Shah. It made the employer responsible for preventing or deterring acts of sexual harassment at the workplace.

National Immunization Day

The National Immunization Day was observed all over India on 19th January 2020 as a part of the Pulse Polio Programme, 2020. Around 17.4 crore children of age less than 5 years were administered polio drops to sustain polio eradication in India.

Amazon to invest 1 billion USD in India

Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos wound up a three-day visit to India by promising to create a million jobs by 2025. He is to invest $1 billion in Asia’s third-largest economy. 

National Ganga Mission Begins Conservation of wetlands

The National Mission for Clean Ganga-NMCG under its 'Namami Gange' program has taken up an initiative to conserve wetlands in the Ganga River Basin. The primary difference in the Namami Gange Project is to rejuvenate the river through an increase in the base flow, aquifers recharge and also conservation of wetlands.

Report on Central and State Water Departments based on Efficiency Targets

Gujarat has been ranked the best for parameters on efficiency targets in the review of State and Central government water departments by the ministry of Jal Shakti.  Among seven Central departments that were reviewed, the Survey of India has got the top billing followed by the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) and Central Water Commission.

K4 nuclear capable missile test fired successfully

India on 19th January 2020, successfully test-fired a 3,500 kilometre range nuclear capable missile that can be launched from a submarine. The K-4 is an intermediate-range submarine launched ballistic missile.

The 14th Foundation day of DFCCIL

On 18th January 2020, the 14th Foundation Day of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) was celebrated at a function in New Delhi. 500 km of Dedicated Freight Corridor was completed and exhorted the team to achieve the goal of 991 km by March 2020.
