HATHEI CHILLI AND TAMENGLONG ORGANGE GETS GI TAG

Hathei chilli, commonly known as the Sirarakhong chilly and Tamenglong Orange of Manipur have received the Geographical Index (GI) tag recently. 

Hathei chilli is grown by the locals of the Sirarakhong village in the Ukhrul district. 

Tamenglong orange is found mostly in the Tamenglong district, produces over half of the state’s annual production of the orange.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MOUNTAINEERING & ALLIED SPORTS (NIMAS)

On September 20, 2021, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh flagged-in, in New Delhi, a team of National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS) Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, which finished a mountaineering expedition to Mount Kun (7,077 metres).

MAHUA NUTRA - HERITAGE DRINK OF JHARKHAND

TRIFED has entered into a project with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FIIT), a unit established by IIT Delhi and M/s Rusicaa Beverages Private Ltd, Purbi Singhbhum, Jharkhand to commercialize the production of Mahua Nutra. Mahua Nutra beverage is a Heritage Drink in the State of Jharkhand.

INDIAN COAST GUARD (ICG) SEIZED 2000 KG OF SEA CUCUMBER

Sea cucumber in India is said to be an endangered species listed under schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. These are in high demand in China and Southeast Asia.

COPPER MAHSEER - STATE FISH OF SIKKIM

The Government of Sikkim has declared endangered ‘Copper Mahseer’ as the state fish. It is locally called ‘Katley’.

PRADHAN MANTRI UJJWALA YOJANA 2.0 LAUNCHED

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The Launch included handing over free LPG gas connections to nearly 5 lakh women.

G-33 VIRTUAL INFORMAL MINISTERIAL MEETING

The G-33 Virtual Informal Ministerial Meeting organized by Indonesia was held recently. It was conducted to discuss the Agricultural Priority Issues of G33 and the Way Forward for the Twelfth Ministerial Conference scheduled to be held from 30th November to 3rd December this year. It was chaired by the Indonesian Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi.

NATIONAL FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE AWARD 2020 TO BRIG SARASWATI

President Shri Ram Nath Kovind conferred the National Florence Nightingale Award 2020 to Deputy Director-General of Military Nursing Service Brigadier S V Saraswati.

It is the highest national distinction a nurse can achieve for selfless devotion and exceptional professionalism.
