IMNEX-2019

IMNEX is a naval Exercise between India Myanmar. IMNEX 2019 is being organised in Visakhapatnam from 19 to 22 October 2019. The opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of Indo-Myanmar joint naval exercise was conducted onboard INS Ranvijay.

Christine Lagarde is appointed as the head of the European Central Bank (ECB)

The European Council appointed Christine Lagarde as the President of the European Central Bank for a non-renewable term of 8 years. She will replace the outgoing President, Mario Draghi, as of 1 November 2019. She is the Chairwoman of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) since 2011. 

The Vice President presented the “Most Eminent Senior Citizen Award”

Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu presented the Most Eminent Senior Citizen Award to legal luminary and former Attorney General K. Parasaran at a function in New Delhi. He was honoured with the award on the occasion of the Elder’s Day celebration of Age Care India, an organization working for the welfare of the elderly.

India will be hosting the 91st Interpol General Assembly in 2022

India to host the 91st Interpol General Assembly in 2022. This was announced after a proposal which received the overwhelming support of member countries at 2019’s congregation held at Santiago in Chile on 19 October 2019. Interpol is an international police cooperation organization based in Lyon, France.

Sri Lanka has been removed from ‘Grey List’ of Financial Action Task Force (FATF)

Sri Lanka has been removed from the ‘Grey List’ of Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The country has taken new measures on financial security. The word ‘Grey List’ identified by FATF refers to a jurisdiction with strategic Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism deficiencies.
