Defence Acquisition Council

Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh chaired the Defence Acquisition Council on October 21, 2019. The Council has approved a capital procurement for indigenously designed and developed equipment for the Defence forces and also approved three projects which are to be indigenously designed, developed and manufactured. This would be a part of Make in India initiative.

 

Dutee Chand won the Vogue award for Sportsperson of the Year 2019

Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand won the Vogue award for Sportsperson for the Year 2019. Besides Dutee, the only other sportsperson on Vogue’s honours list is Indian shooter Heena Sidhu for young achiever of the year.

 

The ninth India-US Defence Technologies and Trade Initiative (DTTI)

The 9th India-US Defence Technologies and Trade Initiative (DTTI) group meeting is scheduled in New Delhi during the last week of October. DTTI is not a treaty or law rather a flexible mechanism, which makes sure that senior leaders from both countries are engaged consistently to strengthen opportunities in the field of defence.

 

Indonesia’s President sworn for his second term

President of Indonesia Joko Widodo popularly known as Jokowi has sworn in for the second and final five-year term. Jokowi a 58-year-old took oath at a ceremony in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. This ceremony was attended by politicians and many foreign dignitaries.

E-portal and a YouTube channel of Rashtriya Centre

Prahlad Singh Patel who is the Union Minister of State for Culture will inaugurate a "YouTube channel" and an "e-portal" of Rashtriya Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT). This is done in order to promote Indian culture. This was done at ‘Digital Bharat-Digital Sanskriti’ program which was held at CCRT headquarters, in New Delhi.

The highest bridge in India inaugurated

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the highest bridge in India. This bridge was named after the “Lion of Ladakh” Col Chewang Rinchen, which stands at 14,650 feet across the Shyok river. It is located at 45km from India’s border from China. This bridge connects Leh’s Darbuka with Daulat Beg Oldi.
