PERSEVERANCE ROVER CONVERTED CARBON DIOXIDE INTO OXYGEN

Recently, the Perseverance rover of Mars 2020 Mission of NASA converted carbon dioxide into oxygen. This is the 1st time this has been accomplished on another planet.

This was accomplished by MOXIE, an instrument set on the front side of the rover. MOXIE = Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilisation Experiment. It is a golden box set on the front side of the rover.

GLOBAL ENERGY REVIEW REPORT RELEASED

Recently, the International Energy Agency released the Global Energy Review report. As per the report, the Carbon Dioxide emissions in India is to be 1.4% higher than the levels recorded in 2019.

MADHU KRANTI PORTAL & HONEY CORNERS LAUNCHED

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare has launched “Madhu Kranti Portal & Honey Corners.

Madhu Kranti Portal is an initiative of National Bee Board (NBB), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM). This portal is being developed for online registration to achieve a traceability source of Honey and other beehive products on a digital platform.

AIM-PRIME LAUNCHED

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog launched AIM-PRIME (Program for Researchers on Innovations, Market-Readiness & Entrepreneurship). It aims to promote science based, deep technology ideas to market through training and guidance over a period of 12 months.

FIFTH SESSION OF CODEX COMMITTEE ON SPICES AND CULINARY HERBS INAUGURATED

Recently, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) inaugurated the fifth session of the Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) established under Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC).

Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) is an intergovernmental body established jointly by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 1963, within the framework of the Joint Food Standards Programme.

The World Book and Copyright Day (also known as ‘International Day of the Book’ and ‘World Book Day’), is an annual event organized on April 23. It is organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright.

UN ENGLISH LANGUAGE DAY OBSERVED

UN English Language Day is observed annually on 23 April. The aim is to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity by exploring the language. English Language Day marks the birthday and date of death of famed writer William Shakespeare.
