India, Mauritius agree upon critical partnership in various sectors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Mauritian counterpart Pravind Kumar Jugnauth held extensive talks to boost bilateral relations on 22 Jan in Varanasi.

Both leaders met in Varanasi on the side-lines of the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

ICC Cricket Awards announced; Virat Kohli sweeps major awards

Virat Kohli has become the first player in history to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards following an extraordinary 2018.

Not only is Kohli the first player to win these three major ICC awards together but he has also been named the captain of the ICC Test and ODI teams of the year for a fabulous run in international cricket.

Sri Lankan Prez instructs authorities to control ‘Sena caterpillar’

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed relevant authorities to act on a war footing to control the Sena caterpillar, which poses a massive threat to the agricultural crops. 

He instructed to jointly implement a program to spray pesticide and launch a national programme within a time frame.

He also announced setting up of a Presidential task force to supervise the program and to take swift decisions to control the menace. 

Nitin Gadkari dedicates to nation Kerrian Gandyal Bridge in Kathua

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways  Nitin Gadkari on January 22, 2019 dedicated to the nation Kerrian Gandyal bridge in Kathua district of Jammu.  

The bridge has been constructed over river Ravi in Kathua district in a record time of over  three years.   

The 1.2 km long span-bridge over the river Ravi has been constructed at a cost of rupees 158.84 crore and will improve inter-state connectivity.

RPF Women Squad ‘JOYMATI BAHINI’ launched in Guwahati

A dedicated RPF Women Squad named as ‘JOYMATI BAHINI’, comprising women sub-inspector and constables of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was officially launched by B.B. Mishra, Inspector General cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner of N.F. Railway at Kamkhaya Railway Station.

It was named after the courageous princess, Joymati to have a constant motivating factor to be courageous, and dedicated  at all times in the service to society.

Mumbai Marathon: Cosmas Lagat, Worknesh Alemu clinch men’s, women’s titles

Cosmas Lagat of Kenya and Worknesh Alemu of Ethiopia won the men's and women's crowns in the Tata Mumbai Marathon in Mumbai on 20 January.

SEA VIGIL: Indian Navy Coordinates Largest Ever Coastal Defence Exercise

Ten years after '26/11' terror attacks in Mumbai, the Navy on 22 Jan commenced its largest coastal defence exercise off the country's coast.

Codenamed Sea Vigil, a first of its kind, is being undertaken along the entire 7516.6 km coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone of India and is involving all the 13 coastal States and Union Territories along with all maritime stakeholders, including the fishing and coastal communities.     

JNPT: Only Indian port to be listed amongst the world’s top 30 container ports

According to Lloyds Reports; Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has become India's only port to get listed among the top 30 global container ports.

It was ranked at 28th position.
