Indian Navy continues Humanitarian efforts in Mozambique on Mar 22

The ships of the First Training Squadron of the Indian Navy (Sujata, Sarathi and Shardul) and the Chetak helicopter of Indian Navy are currently undertaking Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations at Port Beira, Mozambique since 18 Mar 19. The ships were diverted from sea post Cyclone ‘Idai’ hit the coast of Mozambique on 15 Mar 19 causing large scale destruction and loss of lives.

IAF to participate in LIMA Expo 2019

Langkawi International Maritime Aero Expo (LIMA-2019) is planned in Langkawi, Malaysia from 26 March 2019 to 30 March 2019. Indian Air Force is participating in the Maritime Aero Expo for the first time, during which it will showcase its indigenously developed LCA fighter aircraft.

Rate of Exchange of conversion of the Foreign Currencies notified by CBIC

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) notified the Rate of Exchange of conversion of the Foreign Currencies into Indian currency or vice versa, which is relating to imported and export goods. New exchange rate is effective from 21st March, 2019.

Water Storage level of 91 major reservoirs of the country goes down by two percent

The water storage available in 91 major reservoirs of the country for the week ending on March 20, 2019 was 54.002 BCM, which is 33% of total storage capacity of these reservoirs. This percentage was at 35% for the week ending on March 14, 2019.

World Water Day: 22nd March

World Water Day, on 22 March every year, is about focusing attention on the importance of water. The theme for 2019 is "Leaving no one behind" and encourages people to consider marginalized groups as these are often overlooked and discriminated against when they try to access safe water.

Integrate TB services with primary health system: Lancet

According to The Lancet Global Health article based on modelling for three high-burden countries, including India, compared with 2015 data, 57% reduction in incidence and 72% reduction in mortality will been seen only by 2035. Of the 10 million new tuberculosis (TB) cases reported globally in 2017 by the World Health Organisation, 2.74 million were from India, showing a marginal reduction from 2.79 million in 2016.
