T.N. rolls out ration card portability

Ahead of the "One Nation, One Ration Card" scheme which is expected to be rolled out by the government at the Centre in June, the Tamil Nadu government has granted administrative permission for the implementation of Intra State portability of ration cards.

International Day of Education

In December 2018, the General Assembly invited all the member states, organizations of the UN system, other international, regional organizations and civil society organizations to observe 24th January of every year as the International Day of Education. The 1st International Day of Education was accordingly observed on 24th January 2019.

The theme for 2020 International Day is "Learning for people, planet, prosperity, and peace".

India has achieved the complete phase out of ozone depleting HCFC

India has victoriously achieved the complete phase-out of Hydrochlorofluorocarbon--HCFC, a chemical used by foam manufacturing enterprises. It is one of the most potent ozone-depleting chemicals after Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). HCFC-141 b is used mainly as a blowing agent in the production of rigid polyurethane (PU) foams.

HCFC-141b was prohibited from 1st January, 2020 under the Ozone Depleting Substances (Regulation and Control) Amendment Rules, 2019 which is issued under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

ICCW National Bravery Award

The ICCW announced the names of the awardees at a press conference in New Delhi on January 22. A total of 22 children, including ten girls and 12 boys, have been selected for the Indian Council for Child Welfare-ICCW National Bravery Awards, 2019.

ECI to host 10th Annual Meeting of FEMBoSA

Election Commission of India (ECI) is to host the 10th Annual Meeting of the Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia-FEMBoSA in New Delhi. The Election Commission of India will take over the Chair of the forum for the year 2020.

Every year on January 24th this day is celebrated across the country. Day is celebrated to improve the condition of girls in society.

Indian shooters won gold at the Meyton Cup

Indian shooters Divyansh Singh Pawar and Apurvi Chandela have clinched a gold medal each in Meyton Cup, a private tournament in Innsbruck, Austria. Divyansh won the gold in the men's 10m air rifle event with an effort of 249.7, Auprvi bagged the yellow metal in the 10m air rifle women's category with a 251.4.
