AUTUMNAL EQUINOX IN NORTHERN HEMISPHERE

On 22nd September 2020, the day and night became almost equal in most locations marking the start of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere which lasts until the winter solstice (December 21 or 22). On March 20 or 21 and September 22 or 23 neither of the two hemispheres is tilted towards or  away from the sun and the sun’s vertical noon rays strike the earth at the equator. The duration of day and night  is exactly the same, being 12 hours, at all the parallels.

GURU NANAK DEV’S 481ST DEATH ANNIVERSARY

The Jyoti Jot (death anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev (Founder of Sikhism) was observed at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur in Pakistan.

Kartarpur Corridor connects the Sikh shrines of Dera Baba Nanak Sahib (located in Punjab, India) and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur (in Punjab, Pakistan).

INDIAN NAVY CONDUCTS PASSAGE EXERCISE WITH ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY

The Indian Navy (IN) has commenced a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in the East Indian Ocean Region. The exercise would involve participation of HMAS Hobart from the Australian side and Indian Naval Ships Sahyadri and Karmuk.

2020 WORLD RISK INDEX

India ranked 89th among 181 countries on the World Risk Index (WRI) 2020. According to the World Risk Index (WRI) 2020, India was ‘poorly prepared’ to deal with ‘climate reality’, due to which it was more vulnerable to extreme natural disasters.

PRESIDENT RAM NATH KOVIND CONFERS NSS AWARDS FOR 2018-19

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for the year 2018-19. The Award for the year 2018-19 was presented to 42 awardees in three different categories like University, NSS Units and their Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers.

G4 COUNTRIES CALL FOR DECISIVE PUSH FOR UN SECURITY COUNCIL REFORMS

Foreign Ministers from the Group of 4 (G4), consisting of India, Brazil, Japan and Germany, participated in a virtual meeting.

The G4 nations comprising Brazil, Germany, India, and Japan are four countries which support each other's bids for permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council.

PM RELEASES ‘AGE -APPROPRIATE FITNESS PROTOCOLS’ ON FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF FIT INDIA MOVEMENT

The Prime Minister launched Fit India Age-Appropriate Fitness Protocols. Fit India Movement is a nation-wide movement in India to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. It was launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi on 29 August 2019.
