Donald Trump India visit: talks on future trade deal

The US President Donald Trump visited India on February 24, 2020. Along with this visit, India and US signed defence deals worth 3 billion USD. The areas where agreements are likely to be signed are building capacities and collaborations in mental health; agreement on intellectual property rights and a basket of items in defence, which is likely to include helicopters; industry-specific agreements for the supply of high-quality medicine to the US.

Bihar Museum set to host India’s first museum biennale

The Bihar Museum, which is in Patna, is to host the country’s first “museum biennale”. It will showcase collections from 14 public and private museums. The Museum Biennale will run from March 25 to June 25 this year.

Elections for 55 Rajya Sabha seats to be conducted in March

On 25th February, 2020 the Election Commission of India (ECI) stated that the polling for 55 Rajya Sabha seats which is spread over 17 States is set to be vacated in April and hence the election will be conducted on March 26.

Central Excise Day

Every year on February 24, Central Excise Day is celebrated across India to encourage the employees of the Excise department to carry out central excise duty all over the country in a better way so as to prevent the corruption in goods manufacturing business.

The Central Excise Day is also celebrated to commemorate the Central Excise and Salt Act, enacted on February 24, 1944.

National Integration Camp inaugurated in Sikkim

A National Integration Camp which is themed Ek Bharat-Shreshth Bharat was inaugurated at the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Ecotourism Institute at Chemchey, South Sikkim on 24th February, 2020. The camp is being organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Sikkim.

M.M. Wildlife Sanctuary to be tiger reserve soon

The Malai Mahadeshwara Wildlife Sanctuary is going to be a tiger reserve. The approval from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) is expected any time. Once notified, Chamarajanagar district is to have a rare distinction in the country of harbouring 3 tiger reserves.

The sanctuary will be renamed as Malai Mahadeshwara Hill Tiger Reserve. It is with a core area of 670.95 sq km which is spread across Malai Mahadeshwara Reserve Forest, Hanur Reserve Forest and Yediyarahalli Reserve Forest.

Largest cave fish on earth discovered in Meghalaya

A new kind of cave fish which is similar in anatomy to an endangered mahseer species, was discovered in Meghalaya last February. It is the largest known subterreanean fish in the world known till date. The species of fish they found was longer than 40 cm, which is way too long.
