THE STATE OF SCHOOL FEEDING REPORT WAS RELEASED

“The State of School Feeding” report was released by the United Nations World Food Programmes (WFP).

One in two school children - around 388 million children worldwide received school meals when the pandemic was at its peak. Around April 2020, When the pandemic was at its peak, 199 countries had closed their schools, 370 million children were suddenly deprived of nutritious meals for the day.

Vijay Sampla, took the charge of Chairman National Commission for Scheduled Castes- NCSC after being appointed by the President of India.

INDIA'S BRICS CHAIRMANSHIP BEGINS WITH 3-DAY-LONG SHERPAS' MEETING

On February 25, 2021, India started its BRICS Chairship with the inaugural three-day-long Sherpas’ meeting.

BRICS is the acronym coined for an association of five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

INDIA’S FIRST UNDERSEA TUNNEL BY 2023 IN MUMBAI

Mumbai will be home to India’s first undersea tunnel by 2023. It will have a length of 2.07 km of which a kilometre will be under the sea. It is the 1st undersea road tunnel in India that will pass through the Arabian Sea near Girgaon Chowpatty.

SUCCESSFUL LAUNCHES OF VERTICAL LAUNCH SHORT RANGE SURFACE TO AIR MISSILE (VL-SRSAM)

There were 2 successful launches of Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) conducted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The launches were carried out from Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.

STATE OF ENVIRONMENT REPORT, 2021 RELEASED

The State of Environment Report, 2021 was released by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). India is all set to enter in a ‘pandemic generation’, with 375 million children (from newborns to 14-year-olds) likely to suffer long-lasting impacts, ranging from being underweight, stunting (low height-for-age) and increased child mortality, to losses in education and work productivity.

LAW THAT MANDATES THE GLOBAL DIGITAL PLATFORMS TO PAY FOR PUBLISHING THEIR NEWS CONTENT PASSED IN AUSTRALIA

Australia passed a law that mandates the global digital platforms to pay for publishing their news content on their platforms. This legislation will ensure that news businesses “are fairly paid for their content” and will also help in sustaining “Public Interest Journalism” in the country.
