The Light Combat Helicopters designed by HAL

On 27th February 2020, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the new Light Combat Helicopter Production Hangar at Helicopter Division in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Complex at Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) is a 5.5-tonne class combat helicopter that is designed and developed by HAL. It is powered by 2 Shakti engines and also inherits many technical features of the Advanced Light Helicopter.

India-Myanmar sign 10 MoUs during visit

On 27th February 2020, India and Myanmar exchanged ten agreements, out of which the primary focus is the construction of water supply systems, distribution of electricity by solar power, construction of roads and schools in Rakhine state that is located on the western coast of the South Asian country. 

Sri Lanka withdraws from the UNHRC Resolution

On February 26, 2020, The Government of Sri Lanka formally notified the United Nations that it is withdrawing from a United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution for investigating alleged war crimes. The case was dealing with a decade-old clash with Tamil separatists.

The Union Cabinet approves occupancy rights to Scheduled Tribes of Lakshadweep

On 27th February 2020, the union cabinet approved amendment of the Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands Land Revenue and Tenancy Regulation, 1965 to confer occupancy rights to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) population in the union territory. As per the 2011 census, Mizoram and Lakshadweep had the highest percentage of ST population (~95%).

Finance Minister launched Enhanced Access and Service Excellence (EASE 3.0)

On February 26, 2020, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the EASE (Enhanced Access and Service Excellence) 3.0 reform agenda to bring reform in the existence of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) through the use of FinTech, Artificial Intelligence & analytics.

Artificial Intelligence Summit: RAISE 2020

On February 26, 2020, the Indian government announced that it would hold RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment 2020) 2020 summit in New Delhi between April 11 and April 12. It is organized by the Government of India along with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The 6th Coast Guard OPV-6:“VAJRA” launched in Chennai

On 27 February the 6th Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV-6) 'VAJRA' was launched at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The 6th OPV is launched in the sea for the first time which will also strengthen the efforts Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
