INDIAN ARMY DEVELOPS MESSAGING APPLICATION ‘SECURE APPLICATION FOR INTERNET’

Army has developed an in-house WhatsApp-like messaging application called ‘Secure Application for the Internet (SAI)’. The application supports secure voice, text and video-calling services for Android platforms over the internet. The app is end-to-end encrypted.

EXPLAINED: GREEN CRACKERS

Delhi is set for its first full-fledged debut with ‘green’ crackers for Deepavali. Green crackers are “reduced emission crackers”. According to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, firecrackers that cause 30-35% lower emission of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) and 35-40% lower emission of sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide are categorized as “green crackers”.

20% of RURAL STUDENTS LACK BOOKS’: ASER SURVEY

According to the Annual State of Education Report (ASER) survey, about 20% of rural children have no textbooks at home. The phone-based survey, done in September, the sixth month of national school closures, shows a shift in enrollment from private to government schools — 69.55 per cent children in the 6-14 age group are enrolled in government schools, up from 66.42 per cent in 2018.

British Indian Association was founded on October 29, 1851, at Calcutta with Raja Radha Kanta dev and Debendranath Tagore as its President and Secretary respectively. The object of the Association was 'to secure improvements in the local administration of the country and in the system of government laid down by Parliament'.
