Defence Minister chairs 165th EC meeting of MP-IDSA

The 165th and first-ever virtual Executive Council (EC) meeting of Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA) was presided over by the Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh.

Key Points:

  • The MP-IDSA is among the few institutions that reopened first while the restrictions were in place with appropriate safety measures and following the social distancing guidelines.
  • The MP-IDSA is an essential Institute in conducting quality research in defense, international relations, and security.
  • Through the years, the Institute has established vast correlations with the research establishments of the Government and universities and armed forces, paramilitary forces, central police organizations across different states in the country.
  • The extensive exchange with a large number of domestic and international think tanks provides scholars with the opportunity to interact freely and put forward unobstructed views.
  • The exchange of ideas brings different perspectives and new inputs into the domain of policymaking.
  • The meeting of the council was attended in person by the Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar, former Home Secretary Shri G K Pillai, and Prof S D Muni.
