Demo Days Initiative by Atal Innovation Mission for supporting Startups

Atal Innovation Mission, (AIM), the flagship initiative of National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog has concluded a series of virtual COVID-19 Demo-Days, that was started for the identification of potential start-ups concerning Covid-19 innovations.

Key Points:

  • Under the initiative, the NITI Aayog will help the start-ups to deploy their solutions further and scale-up at the national level.
  • The initiative was launched by AIM in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST); Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Department of Biotechnology (DBT); AGNIi, Startup India and other Ministries under the guidance of Principal Scientific Adviser, Dr Vijay Raghavan, and NITI Aayog Health member, Dr Vinod Paul.
  • Under the initiative, the government shortlisted 70 start-ups from a diverse set of categories that included preventive, curative, and assistive solutions.
  • The selected start-ups will receive the support of GoI in the form of funding, supply chain and logistics, access to manufacturing abilities, and finding the right vendors.
  • The initiative has also helped start-ups establish over 340 connections that involve over 50 start-ups and various investors and organisations.
  • The organizers also helped the start-ups by recommending crucial additions to the pitches, advised them on different approvals, and requirements of testing.
