Government has launched India's first Garbage Café 

Ambikapur, a city in the state of Chhattisgarh launched India's first garbage cafe that brings out the 'best out of waste'. Ambikapur bags the title of the second cleanest city in India, that initiative, will give impetus to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'plastic-free' India. The 'Garbage Cafe' unveiled by the Chhattisgarh Health Minister T S Singh Deo. 

About Garbage Cafe 

  • The Garbage Cafe has been established by Ambikapur Municipal Corporation (AMC)
  • In exchange for plastic trash the scheme gives ragpickers and homeless people free meals.
  • The city's corporation has already minimized the use of plastic bags as well as constructed the state's first road with a mix of 8 lakh plastic bag granules and asphalt. 
  • The Garbage Cafe scheme is full connected to the Government's cleanliness campaign 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.  
  • Under this food scheme people will get on every one kilo of trash a full meal, while 500 grams earns a breakfast.
  • Under this scheme at least 100 homeless people also get shelter.
