Context

Japan has topped the Henley Passport Index 2021,

Details

• Japan has topped the list of being the most powerful passport in the world, for the third consecutive year. Singapore is in 2nd place and South Korea ties with Germany is in 3rd place among 110 countries.
• Japanese citizens can travel to as many as 191 countries visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 191 destinations around the world.
• Singapore is in second place (with a score of 190) and South Korea ties with Germany in third place (with a score of 189).

India’s rank:

• India ranked 85 among 110 countries with a visa-free score of 58.

Who releases this report?

• Henley & Partners released this index based on the exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
• Henley & Partners, the residence and citizenship planning firm has published the Henley Passport Index for 2021 according to the number of destinations the respective passport holders can access without a prior visa.
• The index includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations.
• The Henley Passport Index was launched in 2006 with the aim of providing a global picture of freedom of travelling.
