Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali will be felicitated by the Portuguese government for choosing Portugal as a location to shoot his movies and promoting the country.
Ali will be awarded the Touristic Medal of Merit through the Portugal's Secretary of State for Tourism, a press release issued by Visit Portugal said.
The director's 2017 movie "Jab Harry Met Sejal, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, was principally shot in Portugal.
The movie's soundtrack also includes Portuguese music, namely Portuguese guitar and Portuguese fado singer Cuca Roseta, who sang "Yaadon Mein" with Mohammed Irfan and Jonita Gandhi.
Two of the songs of the movie were filmed in Portugal's capital Lisbon, Sintra, and Cascais locales.
According to the press release, after Ali showcased Portugal in his film, several Bollywood filmmakers have followed in his footsteps.
