    • 20 million frontline personnel — armed forces, municipal workers, emergency relief workers, etc
    • 270 million people above the age of 50 and those below 50 with co-morbidities.
  • Around 3 billion doses are made in India.
  • Serum Institute of India (SII) is one of the world’s largest vaccine makers.
  • 4.3 bn doses are made in the world; India accounts for about 70% of world’s production.
  • Almost 65% of vaccines made in India are exported.

CoWIN vaccine delivery management system

  • It will provide real-time information of vaccine stocks, their storage temperature and individualised tracking of beneficiaries of the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • The primary objective of the dry runs was to assess the operational feasibility of using the CoWIN application in a field environment.
  • It will assist the programme managers across all levels through automated session allocation for pre-registered beneficiaries, their verification and for generating a digital certificate upon successful completion of the vaccine schedule.
