India has become the first country in the world to identify the need for action for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

Details

  • The central government has launched the operational guidelines to integrate the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke with the Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.
  • The move aims to move to preventive health from diagnostic cure.

About Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease:

  • In this disease, fat accumulates in the liver of individuals who drink little or no alcohol.
  • Its causes are unknown and factors that increase the susceptibility of the disease are gastric bypass surgery, high cholesterol, obesity and type 2 diabetes
