Indian Army has launched “Operation Namaste” to combat COVID-19

The Indian Army on 27 March launched “Operation Namaste” to restrain the spread of COVID19 in the country. The Army has also arranged facilities for Family Members of the army men to seek medical attention in case of emergency.

  • The operation was launched by the Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on 27 March 2020.
  •  Under the operation, eight quarantine centres have been established by the Indian Army.
  • The Army is also ready for the mobilization of medical teams on call.
  • Several directives have also been issued by the Indian Army to protect the forces from the novel Coronavirus.
  • Twenty-eight hospitals have been set up by the Indian Army to deal with the Coronavirus cases, including the civilian cases.
  • A contingency plan has also been prepared by the Indian Army at a six-hour notice which includes 45 isolated bed facilities and 10 ICU beds.
