Indian Army launches"OASIS"

Indian Army launches"OASIS"

The Indian Army has begun to digitize its official records under its new programme called Officers Automated Structures Information System(OASIS). Under this programme, the records of the army officers are to be digitized. The software is to be hosted in the Army’s intranet.

Key Points:

  • These records were preserved manually by Manpower Planning Directorate even before the launch of the software.
  • The whole process of collecting the records, keeping track of it and checking the records was complicated.
  • In 5-6 months the records are expected to be digitized.
  • Oasis will also carry the photographs of the dependents of the army officers.
  • This would be very important to prevent frauds where people create fake dependent cards.
  • When the officer retires, the whole data would migrate from Oasis to Retired Officers Digital Records Archive (RODRA), which actually holds the pension details of the officers.
