PITTS India Act 1784

  •  It differentiated between political and commercial functions of the EIC.
  • Court of Directors was made responsible for commercial affairs.  
  • Board of Control were entrusted with responsibility of political affairs.
  • So now India had dual government one commercial and another political.
  • Now, whatever the territories EIC had would be called British Possessions in India.
  • In the next chapter, we will read about Charter Act 1833.
