India’s first automated machine for molecular diagnostic tests launched by Mylab Discovery Solutions

Mylab Discovery Solutions, the molecular diagnostics company, based in Pune, has launched the first machine that automates the processes of molecular diagnostic tests like RT-PCR tests for Coronavirus infection.

Key Points:

  • The name of the machine is ‘Compact XL’, and it is a compact bench machine that automates the laboratory processes from handling of the samples to the preparation of RT-PCR tubes.
  • The machine is based on a cartridge and can conduct several sample tests simultaneously.
  • The machine can also be utilised for various tests that are based on RNA/DNA and include tests like Covid-19 RT-PCR tests.
  • Various sample inputs like plasma, sputum, swab and tissue can be taken by the machine.
  • The “Compact XL” machine has been developed indigenously and will replace the necessity of 700 square feet of cleanroom laboratory.
  • The machine will also help in saving on operational costs of the labs by reducing the need of 3-4 expert technicians to only one.
  • The automation of the processes will reduce errors and enhance accuracy and will ensure that tests can be done with minimal supervision, reduced human effort and zero manual error.
