Joint Military Exercise between India and Thailand to be held

Maitree,a joint military exercise between India and Thailand would be conducted from 16th September 2019 to 26th September 2019 at Foreign Training Node, Umroi, in Meghalaya. Maitree is being conducted between the armies of Thailand and India since 2006.The annual training is alternatively held in India and Thailand. The aim of this Military exercise is to share experience gained during various counter-terrorism operations .It is Significant in terms of security challenges faced by both countries in the backdrop of changing facets of global terrorism. It will improve the level of defence cooperation between Indian Army(IA) and Royal Thailand Army(RTA) which will further foster defence co-operation and bilateral relation between both the countries. The contingents of Indian Army and Royal Thailand Army (RTA) comprising of 50 soldiers each will participate in the exercise.
