Lok Sabha passes National Forensic Science University Bill 2020 & Rashtriya Raksha University Bill.

About National Forensic Science University Bill 2020

  • It establishes the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar (established under the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University Act, 2008) and the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Sciences, New Delhi, as a University called the National Forensic Sciences University at Gujarat. 
  • It establishes National Forensic Science University as an institute of national importance.
  • It would facilitate and promote studies and research and help achieve excellence in the field of forensic science in conjunction with applied behavioural science studies, law, criminology and other allied areas.

About Rashtriya Raksha University Bill

  • It seeks to provide for the establishment of the Rashtriya Raksha University, Gujarat.
  • Its objective is to include providing dynamic and high standards of learning and research, and to provide a working environment dedicated to advancing research, education and training in the domain of policing.
  • Its functions include: (i) to provide instructions and research in police sciences, which includes coastal policing and cyber security, (ii) to establish and maintain colleges, and (iii)to  prescribe courses, hold exams, and grant degrees and other distinctions.
