Maharashtra government's Shiv Bhojan scheme

On 26th January 2020, the Maharashtra government launched the ‘Shiv Bhojan’ scheme. The scheme aims to provide a meal to the poor at subsidized rates.

Key Points:

  • Under this scheme, the state government will be providing meals to the poor at just Rs 10. 
  • The scheme has been currently launched on a pilot basis.
  • Under this scheme, the thalis or lunch plates will be available to people at designated centres and canteens during a designated time in all the districts.
  • At least one canteen has been started at the district headquarters in the state on a pilot basis.
  • Another centre was inaugurated by Tourism Minister and Mumbai suburban district Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray at the Collector's office in Bandra.
