Mapping of land bank available for industry under process by Govt

The central government is working on a project to create a genuine single window clearance mechanism and to map the complete land bank that is available for the development of industry.

Key Points:

  • The government is also exploring steps and measures for the promotion of manufacturing of electronic products.
  • A semiconductor fabrication plant is also under plans to be developed in India. Planning is also underway for creating a framework by which the Ministry of Commerce and Industry can capture IT services exports data.
  • The Ministry is working in partnership with DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) to create the framework.
  • The industries will formulate clusters under which the entire ecosystem with common services, all necessary testing labs, plug and play infrastructure to units along with online clearances will be provided.
  • The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is also working on Remission of Duties or Taxes on Export Product (RoDTEP), to provide export incentives under MEIS (merchandise exports from India scheme).
  • The objective of the initiative is to allow industries to build self-sustaining systems as the government cannot provide endless resources to sustain the industries.
