Minister Health & Family Welfare launches the ‘AYUSH Sanjivani ’ App

The ‘AYUSH Sanjivani’ App and 2 AYUSH based studies related to COVID-19 situation were launched by the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan on 7 May 2020.

Key Points:

  • The ‘AYUSH Sanjivani ’ mobile application will help in generating data on the acceptance and use of AYUSH and how it has helped the population to prevent COVID 19 infection.
  • The app has been developed by the Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) and is aimed for at least 50 lakh people.
  • Along with the app, two scientific studies were launched by Dr. Harsh Vardhan. One of the studies is a collaborative clinical research study on Ayurvedic interventions for treatment and actions taken to prevent diseases.
  •  The study was the joint initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of AYUSH, and the Ministry of Science and Technology via Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) with technical support of the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR). 
  • A population-based interventional study was also launched by Dr. Harsh Vardhan to learn how AYUSH based treatments have impacted the prevention of COVID-19 infection in high-risk populations.
  • The main aim of the study was to measure the preventive potential of AYUSH interventions for COVID 19 and to measure the enhancement in quality of living in high-risk populations.
  • The study will take place through the four Research Councils under the Ministry of AYUSH and National Institutes throughout 25 states across the country and will cover around 5 lakh people.
