Mizoram has accorded Industrial status to sports to generate employment

The state government of Mizoram has accorded industrial status to sports, with the objective of generating employment. Granting industry status to the sector will help in meeting the sportspersons requirements and others involved in the sector.

  • Mizoram has a pool of footballers that play for leading clubs of the country and also has several players from Hockey and weightlifting who have performed well.
  • Sports Minister Robert Romawia Royte gave the advice for granting the status to sports.
  • This will also benefit the investors and promoters of Sports apart from giving the largest benefit to the sportspersons.
  • The most known football league in India is the Indian Super League (ISL) which was started on 12 October 2014.
  • Leading Companies like Reliance and Star India provide assistance and promotion to the league, and it is also supported by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
  • The league was introduced in India with the objective of growing the sport of football and increasing its exposure in India.
  • The company Football Sports Development Ltd. (FSDL) operates sports and is a subsidiary of Reliance.
