Nationwide summer research training programme to be organized by NEIST

A nationwide CSIR-Summer Research Training Programme (CSIR-SRTP-2020) will be organized by the North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST). The decision has been taken looking at the stagnancy created in the academic sector of the country as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Key Points:

  • The summer research training programme will be held through online medium and will be implemented through the faculties and mentors from the 38 laboratories of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • The announcement of the programme was made by the director of CSIR-NEIST Dr G Narahari Sastry.
  • The institute has also launched a web portal where aspiring students can log on to avail the online application form and the detailed brochure of the programme.
  • The process of registration was started on 28 May 2020 and will be closed on 5 June 2020.
  • The digital program has been designed keeping in mind the students who are pursuing programmes such as BSc, MSc, BTech/B.E., MCA, M.Tech, and M. Pharma and with excellent academic record throughout.
  • The initiative is also open to faculties from different colleges that are affiliated to Central/Private Universities/AICTE/UGC/State.
  • Around 400 eminent scientists from the labs of CSIR will be engaged in this novel initiative to deliver online lectures.
  • Under the program, financial grants will also be provided to 400-odd students who participate.
