NSTI, Extension Centre e-inaugurated in Imphal

A National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Extension Centre was e-inaugurated by the Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, on 15 July 2020 via video conferencing. The centre is located in Imphal at the Government ITI campus.

Key Points:

  • The inauguration took place during the Digital Conclave organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India as the World Youth Skills Day and the fifth anniversary of ‘Skill India’ mission was being observed on 15 July 2020.
  • The training of Trainers in the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) trades of Motor Mechanic Vehicle, Carpentry and Electrician will be facilitated by the NSTI, Extension Centre, Manipur, at the campus of Govt. ITI, Takyel.
  • Initially, the existing infrastructure and equipment will be utilised for helping out the ITI pass-outs in the Northeast region.
  • The current capacity of National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) for the training of trainers is 9403 annually, and they have a total seating capacity of 12339, which includes 2936 govt. and Pvt. ITOTs.
  • The eligible candidates under the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme programme, are those candidates who possess NTC/ NAC/Diploma/Degree qualifications.
  • Under the scheme, training is offered in 9 non-engineering trades and 27 Engineering trades.
