  • India emerges as the largest exporter of gherkins and cucumber in the world. India exports gherkins worth USD 114 million from April-Oct 2021, while in 2020-21 exports exceeded USD 200 million. 
  • V.O. Chidambaranar Port witnessed a landmark with handling wind blades of length 81.50 metres. The loading of the 81.50-metre long wind blades was carried out diligently using Ship’s Hydraulic cranes. 
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the acquisition by GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Overseas Limited and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare UK Trading Limited of shareholding in GlaxoSmithKline Asia Private Limited under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002. 
  • CCI approves acquisition of shares of Future Generali India Life Insurance Company Limited by Generali Participations Netherlands NV.

  • Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare launched the revamped CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) website and mobile app, “MyCGHS”, on 24th January 2022. The user-friendly website aims to provide easy access to healthcare services to more than 40 Lakh beneficiaries. 
  • Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually interacted with the awardees of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) on 24th January 2022. 
  • Supreme Court asks Centre on the plan to create Indian Environment Services A dedicated Indian Environment Service in the national bureaucratic set-up was recommended by a committee headed by former cabinet secretary TSR Subramanian in 2014. 
  • Banking On Electric Vehicles In India’ Report: NITI Aayog, Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) And RMI India Release ‘Banking On Electric Vehicles In India’ Report. The report outlined the importance of priority-sector recognition for retail lending in the electric mobility ecosystem.
  • Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar: Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management and Professor Vinod Sharma was selected for this year’s Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar. 
  • Parakram Diwas: Netaji’s 125th birth anniversary: On 23rd January 2022, India celebrated the 125th Birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His birth anniversary is also marked as “Parakram Diwas or Courage Day. This day was announced in 2021. 
  • Netaji Award 2022: Former PM of Japan Shinzo Abe was honoured with Netaji Award 2022 by Netaji Research Bureau.
