Economy

• Trade Defence Wing (TDW) operations under DOC result in a reduction of an anti-subsidy duty imposed on Indian exporters from 11.67% to 2.82%. 
• Engineering Goods exports register a stupendous growth of 54% and jump to USD 81.8 Billion during April-December 2021 as compared to USD 52.9 billion during the same period in the previous year (2020).  
• 606.19 LMT of Paddy procured in Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2021-22 (up to 23.01.2022). So far, the highest procurement reported is in Punjab with 1,86,85,532 MT.

• Joe Biden revives the 'clean energy' program with a $1billion loan guarantee. 
• South Korean officials say North Korea tested cruise missiles. North Korea has been increasing its testing activity recently in an apparent effort to pressure the Biden administration over the stalled diplomacy.
• Dutch watchdog fines Apple 5 mln euros for failing to comply with an order to open its app store to allow dating app providers in the Netherlands to use alternative payment methods. 
• The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) launched a month-long "clean cyberspace" campaign to target online abuse, "chaos" in celebrity fan groups and "money worship", among other issues.

Science and Technology 

• Twitter has introduced a new feature that allows some users to display non-fungible tokens (NFTs) they own as their profile pictures on the social media platform. 
• Satellite communication companies, OneWeb and Hughes partnered to provide high speed, low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite broadband connectivity across India.

State Affairs: 

• Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah virtually released India’s First “District Good Governance Index”, in Jammu. Jammu tops the first-ever district good governance index in Jammu and Kashmir.  
• The World Bank recently approved a loan of around ₹ 1,000 crores for the West Bengal government for implementing 400 programmes run by the state government.
