Economy

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced a Positive Pay Mechanism for - cheques.
  • This institution will set up an ‘Innovation Hub’ in the country for ideation and incubation of new capabilities which can be leveraged to deepen financial inclusion and promote efficient banking services - Reserve Bank of India.
  • On 5 August, the RBI has given an in-principle approval to this private sector lender for setting up a wholly owned non-financial subsidiary - South Indian Bank.

International

  • For improving power supply quality, Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) on 6 August has extended a USD 250-million (about Rs 1,870 crore) line of credit (LOC) to - Mozambique.

  • The government is set to launch the Focused Product Investment Scheme to attract funding in - the manmade fibre segment.
