  • In India, there are 40 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Under the 'Cultural' category, Dholavira and Ramappa Temple are the most recent additions.
  • The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has designed and installed a supercomputer named “PARAM Ganga”, at IIT Roorkee, under Phase II of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). PARAM Ganga has a supercomputing capacity of 1.66 Petaflops.
  • The Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Textiles are organising a programme called “Jharokha-Compendium of Indian handicraft/ handloom, art and culture” to celebrate the traditional Indian handicrafts, handlooms, and art & culture.

  • The country's largest iron ore producer, National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd, a CPSE under the Ministry of Steel, got first place in the Ispat Rajbhasha Award for 2018-19 and 2020-21 and the Ispat Rajbhasha Prerna Award for 2019-20.


  • The German government has announced that a virtual meeting of G7 agriculture ministers will be held to discuss the impact of the Russian-Ukraine war on global food security.
  • According to Castellum, a New York-based sanctions watchdog site, Russia has become the most sanctioned country globally due to its invasion of Ukraine. Since February 22, 2022, Russia has been subjected to 2,778 new sanctions, led by the United States and European nations, bringing the total penalties to 5,530. Before February 22, the country had already imposed 2,754 sanctions.
  • The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran successfully launched Noor-2, a military satellite, into orbit at 500 kilometres (311 miles). The Islamic Republic has launched its second military satellite.
  • For the second year in a row, India was rated as a 'partly free' country in terms of democracy and free society in the annual evaluation. Freedom House, a US-based NGO that analyses political rights and civil freedoms, released a "Freedom in the World 2022 – The Global Expansion of Authoritarian Rule."
  • T Raja Kumar, a Singaporean, has been named president of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the global anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing organisation. His appointment is for a two-year term that starts July 1. He was chosen to succeed Dr Marcus Pleyer of Germany during the FATF plenary.


  • Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced the 'Kaushalya Matritva Yojana' at a state-level women's conference on March 7, 2022, held at BTI Ground in Raipur by handing out Rs 5000 checks to five recipients for safe motherhood at a state-level women's convention held at BTI Ground in Raipur.
  • On International Women's Day, the Haryana government introduced the Matrushakti Udaymita Scheme, which will help women entrepreneurs. Women with family monthly income less than 5 lakh rupees based on Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) verified data.
  • Sikkim's Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, announced two new women empowerment and support schemes.
  • The 'Aama Yojana,' a plan to help non-working mothers, and 
  • The 'Bahini Scheme,' will benefit female students.
  • In Pune, Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi erected a large statue of famous Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Statue is approximately 9.5 feet tall and weighs 1,850 kg of gunmetal. In Pune, he also unveiled a 12-kilometer section of a 32.2-kilometer metro rail project that will cost more than 11,400 crores.


  • The Reserve Bank of India has released a booklet titled "BE(A)WARE," which details common fraudster tactics and safeguards to follow when doing various financial transactions.
  • Today, MasterCard and Zeta, a financial technology firm that provides banks and fintech with next-generation credit card processing, announced a five-year global partnership. Zeta's modern, cloud-native, and API-ready credit processing stack will be used to manufacture credit cards with issuers all around the world as part of the agreement.
  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has increased the investment limit for retail investors filing for public debt securities via the universal payments interface (UPI) mechanism from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
  • The HDFC Mutual Fund has launched 'LaxmiForLaxmi,' a women-led financial empowerment initiative that would connect women investors with a female financial expert.
  • Reserve Bank of India has launched two initiatives related to digital payments. One is UPI123pay, which provides a UPI payment facility on feature phones. The second is “DigiSaathi” a 24×7 Helpline for Digital Payments.


  • At MPL's 47th National Women Chess Championship, 19-year-old Priyanka Nutakki won her final WGM-norm. She was the twenty-third Woman Grandmaster of India. She was born in the city of Vijayawada in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In January 2019, Priyanka Nutakki received her first WGM-norm, and within two months, she had met the 2300 rating requirement.
